Short-Stay Care
Our short-stay care services are designed for patients who are recovering from surgery, illness or other medical events. Our clinical team members are specially trained to care for orthopedic, cardiac, pulmonary and neurology patients. We also have rehabilitation therapists available on-site to assist with each patient’s recovery and transition home.
Our clinical care team works with each patient’s physician to develop person-centered care plans that are designed to speed recuperation, increase strength and improve each patient’s ability to care for him or herself.
Rehabilitation Care
Rehabilitation therapy plays a key role in helping patients recover from illness or surgery. Our short-stay care services include rehabilitation professionals who work with each patient’s referring physician in developing person-centered clinical care programs and rehabilitation protocols.
Our rehabilitation teams provide care on-site in well-equipped therapy rooms. They are also an integral part of the transition team that assists patients in their smooth and comfortable return home.
Rehabilitation therapy goes beyond addressing physical function. It is also focused on helping individuals regain the confidence necessary for recovery and independence. Most patients require a combination of two or more of the following therapy services: physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech/language pathology and respiratory therapy.
Physical therapy is focused on restoring normal movement and function, with treatment programs initially designed to improve strength, balance and endurance. As patients progress, therapy focuses on improving mobility and coordination.
As strength, balance and coordination improve, patients may also need occupational therapy to help regain the ability to perform daily activities. Our occupational therapy staff helps patients regain proficiency in dressing, eating, hygiene and routine household tasks.
We also have speech-language pathologists on-site to assist patients in improving or regaining communication skills that may have been impacted by an illness or surgery. These professionals can evaluate and treat hearing loss and provide support for swallowing disorders, language impairments and cognitive disorders.
If patients are recovering from a respiratory disorder, respiratory therapy may be provided through services designed to help regain normal breathing patterns.
Environment and Activities
Comfortable environments and a caring staff are what we strive for at each of our centers. We’re focused on helping our patients feel supported and confident throughout their stay with us.
Each center has a calendar of daily activities, special music events, speakers, and even pet visits to lift and brighten spirits. Flexible visiting hours enable friends and family to drop by and offer encouragement. A variety of menu and dining choices are available each day and Internet access available at select centers.
